My niece's first birthday present

This is a piece I made for my niece for her first birthday gift. It has about 10 layers and took about 10 days to make. I loved creating it. There are words throughout that say play, grow, laugh, dream, live, discover, shine, soar!

This is some of my collection of work created for "The Sketchbook Project." Mine is one of thousands of sketchbooks that will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across America!

After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.

28836 artists from 94 countries around the world are participating. The tour starts February, 2011!

My Musical Soul Mate

I'm tired, of having to walk away again
It's not your fault, we're not on the same page
But I'm the one who has to dig, deep deep inside my soul,
Turn my back and walk away from you, close another door

This search, is like a marathon novel
With so many chapters, but ones I'll never forget
Like Dave and the summer of 2008
Jake the artist... my soul mate?
Matthew became a very dear friend
I'll love you until the end

But with each new day I turn another page,
I keep writing this harrowin's story
About my journey to find... true love

What lessons am I not learning?
'Cause I keep going down this road
I end up at the place, a dead end,
Crying tears of pain once again

But with each new day I turn another page,
I keep writing this harrowin's story
About my journey to find... true love

I'm hopeful that I am lucky
And my fairy-tail ends like most
The stars align, the lovers embrace
Knowing they've found their final resting place

So with each new day I'll turn another page,
I'll keep writing this harrowin's story
About my journey to find... true love

My Sketchbook Project Work

Here are some of the pages of the work I'm doing with my global community art project "The Sketchbook Project" with the Boston Museum. I have to fill a sketchbook before January and mail it back to them. Then it goes into a traveling exhibit where each book is barcoded and each time it is taken out for viewing you are notified. Pretty cool! Last year there were 2,800 sketchbooks!

Rainy Day Blues

The summer in Alberta this year was awful. We had a whole lot of rain. I didn't mind it other than it made me very lethargic and not want to do anything! Luckily I had my studio set up so I could spend time creating while the rain pelted down outside. And I had come across a very inspirational artist named Suzi Blu. She has helped me to get back into creating art just for the sake of creating. Just when I needed a creative, outlet I found her! And I've been creating art just for me ever since.
